This suburban house in Ballymena has been refurbished and extended to adapt the house to better suit the owners changing needs.
As children grow up and become it would be nice to accommodate their new independence and social lives within your own house. So thought the owners of this suburban house in Ballymena.
The house was typical suburban house with ample sleeping space, a cellular layout to the ground floor with discreet rooms for kitchen living dining and a good sized Eastern facing garden. The owners wanted a more social space to enjoy family life with their teenagers and to make a better connection with the back garden.
The solution was to bring together the space from the separate kitchen and dining areas and extend this space into the garden with a new sun room and raised deck. This new integrated indoor and outdoor family space to the garden side of the house left the existing front living room free for more discreet functions including accommodating their children’s changing social lives.
This project illustrates how by identifying the underused assets of your house, allowing space to flow a little and creating a very modest extension our existing house can be transformed to suit our changing circumstances. Bringing space and light and people together.
